🤔 …on ETH Denver 2024

Everything we learned this year!

Many familiar with Myosin.xyz will know that ETH Denver is a key part of the DAO’s history and lore.

As I put it in the intro to this week’s Netcetera read, which just went live on our website, “Netcetera has its origins in the Myosin.xyz DAO, and Myosin.xyz has its origins in ETH Denver 2022.” The DAO was spun together at Myosin House two years ago, and we’ve reiterated the House there each year since.

Today, for the second year running, we’re sharing Myosin members’ takes and takeaways from the conference. In the two weeks since we got back from Breckenridge, I’ve given several members pointed questions to get their thoughts on ETH Denver 2024 as a local event but also as a reflection of crypto globally at what feels like a very pivotal moment.

Read on for all that and more!

On the 2024 ETH Denver

Alright, so I initially wanted to write out my 10 biggest takeaways from Netcetera’s “Reflections on ETH Denver 2024,” but I hit a snag…

My editor has informed me that that’s overkill and I should really cut it in half…

(In hindsight, he’s absolutely right — but there’s just so much goodness wrapped up in that article, ya know?)

Alright, here goes…

  1. Someone dared whisper ‘Solana’ at an Ethereum conference?

The crypto scene this year saw a surge in excitement fueled by rising prices and innovations like Layer 2 solutions, web3 social platforms, and projects like Solana.

  2. Finally, something to actually do with our crypto!

There's a noticeable shift towards focusing on building actual products rather than just the underlying technology or blockchain itself.

  3. You mean to tell me, blockchains are about to work smoothly AND autonomously??

New topics such as decentralized AI agents, Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions, and increased interoperability gained traction.

  4. Points? What are points – when can I onboard my mom n’ dad??

While there's enthusiasm around points systems for user acquisition, there's a call for more consumer apps to be developed.

  5. The Ethereum community is splintering (in the best way possible).

ETH Denver maintained its attendance levels, but attendees seemed more diverse, gravitating towards niche events within the crypto space.
